Beat the Chill with these Easy Knitted Hand Warmers

These fingerless hand warmers are super quick to make and really do keep your hands toasty.

My daughter didn't want any (girly) pattern so I stuck to a plain rib. This also helps to keep them stretchy so there is no increasing and decreasing of stitches required.

You need:

DK wool
4mm and 4.5mm knitting needles
Stitch markers (or wool scraps)
Darning needle
Two cold hands

Start at wrist edge
Cast on 40 sts with 4.5mm needles - adjust if you are making these for a child.
Leave a long tail so you can use this for sewing up.
Continue in K2P2 rib (I told you this was super easy!)

Measure required length - I continued for 44 rows.

Change to 4mm needles and rib a couple of rows just to keep the edge snug at the fingers.
Cast off  and leave a long tail so you can use this for sewing up.

Measure where the opening should be for the thumb using stitch markers or bits of wool.

Sew up.

Time taken from cast on to test driving these hand warmers was under three hours, so whip some up in different colours.

High five for the best mom

Okay that's enough outdoorsy stuff!
